February 13, 2020 Joe Leave a Comment

Essex County in New Jersey is offering free radon test kits to county residents while supplies last. These easy-to-use kits will allow you to measure the radon level in your home, so if you live in Essex County please visit the Essex Regional Health Commission office located at 204 Hillside Avenue in Livingston, N.J., between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

You can call first to check availability at 973-251-2059.

Some N.J. municipalities in other counties also provide free radon kits from time to time. Check with your town municipal office.

How high is the radon risk in each N.J. county? This link will take you to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Radon Potential Map.

Being in a lower risk area does not guarantee your house has a low radon level. Radon levels can vary greatly from one home to the next, and the only way to be sure your level is safe is to test.
